Classes

General Classes
Classes are offered that cater to all levels of practitioners, from beginners to more advanced students. The classes are an hour and a half long and are limited to no more than ten people. They consist of relaxation practices, asana (postures), pranayama (breath and energy work) and meditation practices or yoga nidra (a deep relaxation meditative technique). Emphasis is placed largely on developing and expanding ones awareness. It is common to feel very relaxed, peaceful, creative and balanced after a class.

Class Descriptions:

Basic Beginners: Tuesdays 6pm-7:30pm.
This class works with the basic postures, correct breathing practices, and concepts that form the foundation for all other yoga practice. This class would suit people with no yoga experience, people with injuries or pain, people wanting to learn and strengthen their foundation of yoga. This class is taught by Lalita.

Progressive Beginners:
Thursdays 6pm-7:30pm
This class takes the basic beginners one step further, working with slightly more progressive postures, and breathing techniques. Emphasis is given to developing a solid foundation in practice, so that one understands the benefits and effects of the practices and can begin to practice yoga outside a class environment with confidence. This class is taught by Chaitanyananda.

Intermediate General: Mondays 6pm-7:30pm
This class focuses on slightly stronger asana working to hold positions for longer periods of time. The static stage of an asana provides the opportunity to move the awareness more deeply into all parts of the experience- the body, body systems, breath, energy, chakra awareness, the witnessing consciousness, and mental and emotional experience. We will deepen into Pranayama techniques which will then lead fluidly into meditation or yoga nidra. This class is taught by Sangeetananda.

Intermediate Classical Series: Wednesdays 6pm-7:30pm
The classical series is a set of asana that flow progressively and logically into one another. They involve a series of classical hatha yogic asanas which individually have been proven to improve the health and functioning of the body and its inner systems. When these asana are performed together in a flow- they effectively balance and revitalise the body and draw the mind into deeper states of inner awareness. Repetition of the classical series each week provides you with the opportunity to improve your performance of each posture and maximise the benefits provided by each. This class is taught by Sangeetananda.

General Morning Class: Fridays 7am-8:30am
This class will involve more dynamic asana to revitalise the body and prepare it for the day ahead. An early morning session gives you the opportunity to start the day with awareness. Asana stretches a body which is at its most stiff first thing in the morning and then we work to centre, focus, and still the mind though pranayama and meditation practices. This class is taught by Sangeetananda.
